If you’re looking for a place to go apple picking this fall then check out Solebury Orchards in New Hope, PA. Solebury Orchards is located about an hour from the neighborhood, about twice as far as Linvilla Orchards, but it’s well-worth the trip.
We’ve been going to Solebury Orchards for our fall apple picking since 2017. It works well for us because we usually meet friends who live in New Jersey and it’s centrally located between us. Plus, you can also spend some time in New Hope and Lambertville while you’re there.
Apple Picking at Solebury Orchards
There are several orchards at Solebury and different varieties of apples are available at different times throughout the season. This year, we went early in September when the Honey Crisps were ripe. They have a number of varieties so there’s always something available throughout the season.
To get to the orchards you’ll get a free ride in tractor-pulled wagon which is always fun. The ride to the orchards take about 5 minutes, or so. The tractor driver will typically provide some information about the orchards and instruction on how to pick apples. You’ll find apple picking bags and ladders at the orchard.
Other Things to Do at Solebury Orchards
Solebury Orchards also has flower and berry picking fields that are available seasonally. There’s an indoor and an outdoor shop where you can buy apples and Solebury Orchards apple cider. Solebury Orchards also makes fresh apple cider donuts. If you can grab some of these while they’re still warm you won’t be disappointed. Another specialty is the frozen apple cider, basically an apple cider slushy. These are definitely something that you won’t want to miss out on.
