This week in Roxborough and Manayunk is another busy one with a number of great events. We’re definitely looking forward to the Harvest Festival at Gorgas Park on Sunday. Here’s our list of the best things to do in the neighborhood this week . . .
Are you interested in helping out the wild fauna of the forest this fall? The Wildlife Clinic is in need of regular volunteers to assist with injured and orphaned animals. Schuylkill Center for Environmental Education, 6:30 pm to 9:30 pm.
Are you a designer or just interested in all things lifestyle? Get your space IG ready with this event! Over a dozen businesses are offering panel discussions, open houses and workshops. Various locations, 5:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
Na-na-na-na-na-na-BAT NIGHT! This event is aimed towards adults (and children 12+ years old) who want to learn about our flying mammal friends. Hosted by the Andorra Branch Free Library and the Wissahickon Environmental Center. Meet at 300 W Northwestern Ave, 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm.
All ages are welcome (children must be chaperoned by an adult) on a nature walk to see if the monarch caterpillars have become beautiful butterflies. Andorra Meadow at the Wissahickon Environmental Center 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
There will be a service of remembrance hosted by the Roxborough Male Chorus. The chorus will be singing the National Anthem and God Bless America. The service will be followed by a concert with the Hooligans. Gorgas Park from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
There’s plenty to do in Roxborough & Manayuunk during this first week of back to school. Several local restaurants are offering back to school deals this week, The Great Weiner Race will be held on Wednesday, and the last of this year’s First Friday’s in Roxborough Pocket Park will be held this week. On Sunday, be sure to check out the Back to School Carnival at North Light Community Center.

Outdoor Movie in the Park
Gorgas Park Movie Night featuring Spider Man: Into the Spider-Verse beginning at dusk If your Spidey senses are telling you something, it might be that it is the last movie night of the summer at Gorgas! Bring some chairs and/or blankets, hit up the concession stand that supports the park, and enjoy a summer evening at the movies.
